NPL Preview: Wanderers vs Northern Tigers

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be planning to tighten their grip as NPL 2 league leaders this Saturday night when they host Northern Tigers at Sydney United Sports Centre.

The unbeaten Wanderers are currently one point clear on the top of the table after six rounds of the season.

They come into this match on the back of an impressive 3-1 win against Hills Brumbies, with goals to Keanu Baccus, Kosta Grozos and Matthew Lecce sealing the three points.

It was another deserved result for Trevor Morgan’s side, who boast the best attack and the best defence in the competition.

The Red & Black will be wary though of an expeienced Northen Tigers outfit, who sit just four points below in fourth place.

The Wanderers will have to do without top scorer Abraham Majok, who has travelled to Adelaide with the Hyundai A-League squad.

Yet with 12 different scorers this season, the Red & Black have more than enough firepower to cover his absence.

Northern Tigers meanwhile played much of last week’s match against Bankstown Berries with 10 men and were unlucky to concede a late equaliser, being held to a 1-1 draw.

They’ll be desparate to pinch a result to keep themselves in touch with the leading pack, which should lay the foundations for up an entertaining contest at Sydney United Sports Centre.
