NPL Preview: Wanderers vs Parramatta FC

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking to extend their six-match unbeaten run on Sunday afternoon when they host Parramatta FC at Sydney United Sports Centre in the NSW NPL 2.

Parramatta FC are currently in 12th and are coming off a 4-1 loss to Macarthur Rams last weekend.

Former Wanderer Jason Trifiro has featured regularly for Parramatta this season, while they also have a couple of former Wanderers Academy players Matthew Lecce and Charles Abou Serhal.

The Red & Black will need to be wary of Parramatta striker Neram Yalda who has netted five goals in nine games.

For the Wanderers, goalkeeper Daniel Axford was impressive in last week’s win over Spirit FC.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper joined the Wanderers Academy in 2016 and has progressed rapidly, starting with our U18 side and also getting some game time with the NPL 2 first grade team that year.

The Kellyville local then went on to make his Foxtel Y-League debut for the club against Central Coast Mariners in November 2016 and was also part of the U20 side that won the 2017 Grand Final.

Tacettin Kumsuz is another Wanderer who will be looking to build on a solid performance in our last game.

The 19-year-old midfielder followed a similar path to Axford, initially playing for our U18 team before quickly rising to be part of the NPL 2 first grade squad.

Kumsuz also made three appearances for the Wanderers in the 2017/18 Foxtel Y-League season.
