NPL Preview: Wanderers vs Spartans

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking to make it three consecutive wins this Sunday in the NPL 2 when they take on Blacktown Spartans at Sydney United Sports Centre. 

The Spartans currently sit in 11th place with one win to their name so far which was a 2-1 triumph against Macarthur Rams in the opening round. 

The visitors come into the match after a midweek fixture against Hills United where they lost 2-1 in Round 4 of the FFA Cup qualifiers. 

The Red & Black will need to keep an eye on Spartans attacker Alex Boyadjian who netted 11 goals in 2017, including one which was in the most recent meeting between the two sides. 

For the Wanderers, Mohamed Adam will be a player to watch. The 17-year-old signed with the Wanderers after impressing fro Marconi U20s in 2017 where he scored 18 goals in 25 games. 

Adam carried this form into the club’s Championship-winning Foxtel Y-League campaign, featuring in every game and scoring four goals. 

Samuel Silvera will be another player to watch. Also 17-years-old, Silvera scored in last week’s 3-0 win over Mounties and was a star for in the Wanderers U20s sie last season where he scored 16 times. 

The last time these two sides met, the Wanderers won 3-2 at Blacktown Football Park. Mohamed Najjar netted twice that afternoon whilst Charles Abou Serhal scored from the penalty spot.
