The Wanderers kick off what will be a crucial period in their charge to National Premier Leagues promotion when they host Mt Druitt Town Rangers at Blacktown Football Park this Saturday evening.

KICK OFF: Western Sydney Wanderers v Mt Druitt Town Rangers, 7pm Saturday at Blacktown Football Park

It will be a familiar setting for Trevor Morgan’s side who will look to maintain their lead at the summit of the PS4 NPL2 competition ladder with victory over the ninth-placed locals.

The Red & Black are two points ahead of rivals Sydney FC and only three ahead of third-placed Bankstown City with 12 matches to play of the regular season and will look to take maximum points on Saturday with a rescheduled trip to Spirit FC to come on Tuesday night.

Mt Druitt forwards Kuag Reec and Abraham Majok, vital in the 2015 NPL2 season for reigning champions Spirit FC, have pitched in a combined eight goals for Aidan Desmond’s Mt Druitt side this campaign and will be key in hunting a win that would leave the side Just outside a finals position.

Rangers were victims of the Red & Black’s flying start to NPL life when the two outfits met earlier in the season as the Wanderers enjoyed a 5-2 victory at Popondetta Park in Round 2. The side lost four of their following five matches after that defeat but enter Saturday’s Round 14 encounter unbeaten in their last six.

Taking to the field for the first time without recently promoted Hyundai A-League starlets Lachlan Scott and Mario Shabow, it will be an intriguing mid-season test for the young Wanderers who will look to extend their unbeaten streak to nine matches with another win.
