NPL Wrap: Wanderers fall to Macarthur

The Western Sydney Wanderers have suffered just their second defeat of the NPL 2 season after going down 2-1 to Macarthur Rams at Lynwood Park on Saturday night.

A double from the Macarthur’s Kurdvan Abduljabbar either side of Abraham Majok’s strike for the Wanderers sealed an unfancied win for the Rams in what was a tightly fought contest.

After a scoreless first half the game sparked into action when Abduljabbar dispatched a penalty in the 52nd minute to take the Rams into the lead.

The Wanderers were quick to reply 10 minutes later when Majok netted his fourth of the season to draw his side level.

Macarthur would have the final say when Abduljabbar scored his second of the match in the 74th minute, a strike that would prove to be the winner.

With the result, the Rams have extended their unbeaten streak to five games, while the Wanderers have dropped down to second place on the ladder, three points behind league leaders Marconi Stallions.

The Red & Black will look to get back in the winners circle when they host Bankstown Berries at Lilys Football Centre on Sunday night.
