The Western Sydney Wanderers have jumped to the top of the NPL 2 ladder after a 3-1 win against Central Coast Mariners at Blacktown Football Park on Saturday night.

Three first half goals from Matthew Lecce, Kyle Cimenti and Charles Abou Serhal sealed the Red & Black’s sixth win of the season, which moves them into first place on the table on goal difference ahead of Blacktown Spartans and Marconi Stallions.

The Wanderers opened the scoring via Lecce early in the first half before the Mariners equalised soon after courtesy of a goal from Duncan Stewart.

The Red & Black retook the lead a short time after when Kyle Cimenti netted his third goal of the season.

The Wanderers would extend their lead just before the half when Abou Serhal tucked away a penalty for his first goal of the season.

The score would go unchanged in the second half as Trevor Morgan’s side held on comfortably for their second win on the trot following last week’s 5-2 thumping of St George.

The Wanderers will look to hold on to top spot when they take on Macarthur Rams at Lynwood Park on Saturday.
