The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team have retained their place as leaders of the competition after a convincing 3-0 win over St George City FA on Sunday night.

Goals from Mohamed Adam, Jarrod Carluccio, and Jacob Vasiliou saw the Red & Black stretch their unbeaten run to nine games.

In the opening minute, Rory Jordan had a shot blocked by the defence after a nice pass from Andrea Agamemnonos.

Marley Peterson had the side’s next chance, sending a shot just wide after a solid play from Agamemnonos and Adam.

At the other end, goalkeeper Jack Greenwood was called into action, making a flying stop to deny former Wanderer Steve Kuzmanovski.

With half an hour played, Agamemnonos chipped the ball into the area for Carluccio but his header was off target.

Carluccio made amends a couple of minutes later when his defence-splitting pass found Mohamed Adam, who lashed the ball into the roof of the net, scoring for in his eighth consecutive game.

The Wanderers were forced to defend early in the second half with Mohamed Al Taay making a crucial block to deny Matthew Mayora, before being in the right place again just after the hour mark, clearing Kuzmanovski’s shot off the goal line.

In the 73rd minute, Carluccio was denied after getting on the end of a great pass from Constable.

However, the same two players would combine to double the squad’s lead less than a minute later with Carluccio heading home Constable’s cross.

Adam then almost made it three after a turning a defender, only to see his shot cannon back off the crossbar.

In stoppage time, Vasiliou capped off a great performance by the Red & Black, receiving possession on the edge of the area and firing a shot in via the base of the post.

The dominant win keeps the Wanderers two points ahead of second place Hills United with North Shore Mariners and Spirit FC one point further back.

On Saturday, the Red & Black will face Northern Tigers at North Turramurra Recreation Area. Kick-off is at 7:00pm.
