Read the recap from our Wanderers Academy youth team performances over the weekend against Blacktown Spartans and Rockdale Ilinden.

U13s coached by Peter Kofinas
6-0 win

A slow start to the match wasn’t in the Wanderers plans but Spartans showed some resilience and caught the Red & Black off guard in the first 20 minutes of the match. Once the U13s settled and found some rhythm, the goals followed. The second half was excellent and the Wanderers scored some beautiful goals to top off a good half performance. Ashwell Starr scored a double while Christian Lardieri, Dom Trovato, Christophe Budgen, and Leon Alizart all got onto the scoresheet.

U14s coached by Rob Bradshaw
1-3 loss

It was a first half where the Spartans did a good job of putting pressure on our players and forcing mistakes that led to chances for the opposition in good areas. On some occasions, the Wanderers made poor decisions and failed to play forward or switch the play quickly and open up the game when it was required. The rate at which we turned the ball over was disappointing considering the ability of the players within the squad. The U14s went into the break 2-0. A more dominant performance in the second half saw the sides first goal which was nicely put away by Max Hately. After gaining momentum the had another defensive lapse which enabled Spartans an easy finish the game off 3-1.

U15s coached by Geoff Abrahams
5-1 win

A devastating first half performance against a very dynamic opposition got the job done this week. Despite being put under a lot of pressure early on, the Wanderers responded with five unanswered goals. All of the U15s goals came in the first half including a hattrick to Mansour El Masri, as well as goals to Miguel Di Pizio and Filip Dimovski.

U16s coached by Shaf Sagol
5-1 win

The U16s continued their good run of form with another big 5-1 victory. From the opening, the opposition sat deep in a narrow block and were looking to hit on the counter. It was only a matter of time then before the Wanderers flood gates open. The U16s took their chances when they broke through the opposition’s block and defended strongly in transition moments. Goals came from Jessie Photi, Braeden Andreotti, Luca Pecora and Rhys Youlley with a double.

U18s coached by Tom Vidovic
4-1 win

It was another confident performance by the U18s who recorded a convincing 4-1 win against Spartans. The Wanderers dominated the entire match from the outset with Jasper Webber scoring a hattrick while Jakov Malbasa rounded off the scoring.

U20s
4-2 win against Rockdale

A top performance from the U20s saw them run out a deserved 4-2 win over Rockdale. The Red & Black went up 1-0 thanks to a Bilal Chahine free kick early in the first half, however, they then conceded two goals against the run of play prior to the break going down 2-1 at the end of the half. The U20s showed great composure and produced a spirited second-half performance which saw them dominate scoring three unanswered goals. It was a great team performance with George Antonis putting on a midfield masterclass scoring a second-half hat-trick which sealed the win.
