The Western Sydney Wanderers have defeated Central Coast Mariners 2-0 in Round 2 of the Foxtel Y-League at the CCM Centre of Excellence.

A double from Steven Lustica ensured that the Wanderers would bring the three points back to Western Sydney, maintaining their place at the top of the table at the end of the round.

The Wanderers put the Mariners under pressure early with Lachlan Scott sending a piercing header that forced goalkeeper Tom Glover to react quickly and make a save on his line.

The Red & Black jumped into the lead in the 30th minute after a smart run by Abraham Majok saw him cut in from the left to Lustica who made no mistake in firing from the close range.

Before the end of the first half, Scott had the best chance to extend the Wanderers lead but his strike was cleared off the line by Lewis Miller.

Lustica once again partnered with Majok to score the Red & Black’s second goal of the match, replicating a similar play to the first and slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

The Wanderers held onto their lead and kept a clean sheet in their 2-0 victory over Central Coast Mariners.

The Red & Black will now play at home this Friday night in a double header with the Westfield W-League team at Marconi Stadium, kick off is at 7:30pm against Sydney FC.
