NYL Preview: Newcastle vs Wanderers

The Western Sydney Wanderers Foxtel Y-League will travel to Newcastle on Saturday and will need a win to book their place in this season’s Grand Final.

The Jets survived a late comeback to Canberra United last weekend and are undefeated in their last three games.

The Wanderers will need to be wary of Newcastle’s firepower come Saturday afternoon, with ten different players scoring for the Jets this Y-League season.

The Red & Black come into the clash fresh after a bye last round and will be looking to get back to winning ways after two consecutive defeats.

Matthew Lecce is one of the players that could make a difference for the Wanderers on Saturday.

The 19-year-old has progressed through the Wanderers Academy since joining in 2016 and is able to play either as a winger or attacking midfielder.

At the other end of the field, Mathieu Cordier has had some standout performances in the Foxtel Y-League this season in the Wanderers defence.

It was a high scoring affair the last time these two sides met with the Wanderers winning 5-3 at Marconi Stadium back in December.

Mohamed Adam and Mark Tokich found the back of the net that night before a Kosta Grozos double and an own goal rounded off the scoring for the Red & Black.
