The Western Sydney Wanderers got back to winning ways on Sunday courtesy of a Martin Lo goal in a dominant display over Adelaide United in the Foxtel National Youth League.

After the early morning success for the Red & Black following the Wanderers’ famous AFC Champions League victory, the young Wanderers welcomed Adelaide United to Blacktown International Sportspark.

Romeo Castelen, Nikita Rukavytsya and Seyi Adeleke were or part of the squad for the young Wanderers.

It was a battle in the middle of the park and the first real chance came 20 minutes before the break.

Rukavytsya was brought down just outside the area as Castelen stepped up to take the set piece. His well placed shot curled over the wall but was denied by the woodwork as the ball slammed against it.

A swift Wanderers counter attack almost saw Rukavystya hit the back of the net but the Adelaide keeper made a smart save at his near post to palm the ball out for a corner.

Minutes before half time the home side almost had the lead.

Castelen and Anthony Schmidt combined down the left as the latter delivered a teasing cross into the box only for Michael Trajkovski to arrive slightly late.

The first opportunity of the second half came a quarter of an hour in as second half substitute Adeleke crossed in a great ball to the far post but Trajkovski didn’t get the connection he was after.

Soon after and Steve Kuzmanovski really should’ve opened the scoring.

The number seven burst through the Adelaide defence but he couldn’t direct his shot on target as it flew agonizingly wide of the post.

The Red & Black continued their dominance and in the 73rd minute Kuzmanovski threatened again, this time dribbling through from midfield, taking on a number of opposition players to shoot from the edge of the area.

At full stretch the Adelaide keeper managed to get a hand to the ball and push it out for a corner.

The young Wanderers’ finally had their goal in the 89th minute.

A neat one-two and a flick from Adeleke saw Martin Lo move in one-on-one with the Adelaide keeper.

Lo made no mistake with the finish as the Wanderers scored the winner to top off a great weekend for the club.
