Our second best start to a season

The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers go into their Round 5 match against Perth Glory this Sunday on the back of their second best start to a season.

Only once in the club’s history has the Red & Black collected more points in the opening four matches of a season: back in season two when two draws and two wins saw the Wanderers with eight points.

With a total of five points from one win and two draws, the Wanderers are in their second-best ever position after four games.

Notoriously slow starters, the Red & Black have always finished strongly with one Hyundai A-League Premiership, one AFC Champions League and three Hyundai A-League Grand Final appearances.

And it’s not just the results that are breaking early season records, the Wanderers’ goal tally is the second-best haul the club has had by this stage: falling one goal short of the six strikes scored in season two.

History is on the Wanderers’ side as they head into Round 5 with the Red & Black never losing their fifth match of the season: in fact they have a record of three wins and one draw.

At this stage last season the club started a seven match winning streak.
