Forward Susan Phonsongkham on embracing the opportunities she’s been given in the Westfield W-League.

The Westfield W-League 2020/21 season will mark Phonsongkham’s fourth season with the club in the competition, transforming from a youngster to a force to be reckoned with.

The 19-year-old featured in seven matches in the back-end of last season after an injury ruled her out at the start, using the time on the sideline to her advantage, Phonsongkham embraced the environment around her to make sure she was there for the team when they needed her the most.

“Being injured at the start of the season was tough,” said Phonsongkham.

“But the culture that the coaching staff had built impacted the way I treated the situation with my injury and this massively helped me both mentally and physically.

“Last season was a very special one for the club. The coaching staff built a culture for the team that I have never really experienced before.

“They really drove the positives in the group and made us believe in ourselves.”
