Player Watch | Returns from Injury

Thumbnail

The weekly segment which takes you through what our players are doing during the Westfield W-League and Foxtel National Youth League off-season.

This allows you to follow how our players are performing for their NPL and overseas clubs while keeping you up-to-date with fixtures in case you’d like to go and watch them live.

Men’s NPL 1

Thomas Manos with the South Coast Wolves lost 3-0 against Blacktown Spartans. Manos put in a strong performance and was unlucky to concede two penalties. He went on to make two diving saves to the left and blocked a one-on-one.

Anthony Schmidt and Marconi Stallions lost 4-2 against Manly United. Schmidt played the full match and made a last minute tackle to stop a shot in the 6-yard box in the first half.

U20

Michael Trajkovski celebrated victory with Sydney Olympic after defeating Rockdale City Suns 2-1. This was the first match Trajkovski started since returning from injury and he featured in 70 minutes of the match.

His start saw him create many chances with some great forward runs off the shoulders of defenders. Trajkovski had a goal disallowed for offside.

Womens NPL 1

Sydney University’s Grace Henry, Rachel Soutar and Trudy Burke drew 2-2 with the Emerging Jets.

It was a goal scoring frenzy between the Illawarra Stingrays’ Michelle Carney, Caitlin Cooper and Jordan Baker against Demi Koulizakis from FNSW Institute which saw the game end with the Stingrays taking out the 5-2 victory.

The Stingrays side saw both Baker and Carney shine on the field after scoring goals for their side.

Demi Koulizakis and the Institute played well in the first half and took the 2-1 lead. Sadly for FNSW, things seemed to unravel in the second half. Koulizakis played in the entire match and set up one of the goals.

Lorena Budgen from FNSW Institute has been out with injury but will hopefully return in their upcoming match this weekend.
