Western Sydney Wanderers FC have played in their final pre-season friendly match this afternoon, drawing 1-1 with Western United at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong.

Western United opened the scoring in the second minute through Scott McDonald before Wanderer Mo Adam equalised with ten minutes to go.

The match saw new signings Alex Meier and Matt Jurman feature in their first match for the Red & Black, while Patrick Ziegler and Mitchell Duke both made their return from injury.

Wanderers goalkeeper Dani Lopar kept the Red & Black in the game after the early goal, palming away dangerous shots from Aspostolos Stamatelopoulos and Alessandro Diamanti.

The Red & Black controlled much of the possession in the first half and it continued into the second, opening the half with a powerful ball that hit the crossbar.

The Wanderers found the equaliser in the 80th minute through Mo Adam whose low shot inside the box made it 1-1.

The match wrapped up the final friendly fixture in the Wanderers pre-season calendar with the Red & Black set to return to Wanderland on Saturday 12 October. You can get your tickets here.
