Preview: Victory vs Wanderers

The Wanderers will need to get something out of Saturday night’s fixture against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park to keep their finals hopes alive.

It’s been a rollercoaster of a couple weeks for the Red & Black who have experienced the highs and lows of the Hyundai A-League.

This Saturday the Wanderers return to Melbourne after a very disappointing result last week against City and will now be looking to bounce back against Melbourne Victory to secure their place in the Top Six.

It’s set to be another difficult task for the Wanderers with history showing that they have previously struggled against Victory, winning only four out of 17 matches.

The Red & Black will need to be firing on all cylinders to secure three points and this season alone have had 245 shots, 28 more than their opponent.

Oriol Riera and Besart Berisha have both scored 12 goals in the Hyundai A-League this season and will no doubt be looking to etch another on their tally come Saturday night.

The Wanderers will also need to keep their cool and stay focused at the back, having leaked six more goals than Melbourne Victory this season.

Victory’s George and Berisha have both found great form towards the end of the regular season and will be two players the Wanderers defence will need to keep an eye on going into the match.

If one thing’s for certain, Saturday will be a true test for both clubs.

For the Wanderers, finals hopes are on the line as Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory are only one point behind the club on the ladder.

Whilst for Victory, it will be a test to see if the side can mentally bounce back from their 1-0 loss to Perth Glory last weekend and continue their undefeated streak against the Red & Black.

Tune into the match live on both FOX SPORTS 501 and ONE on Saturday night.
