The upcoming rounds of the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League will be dedicated to remembering and acknowledging the service men and women who sacrificed their lives during times of conflict.

‘Remembrance Round’, a joint initiative between Football Federation Australia (FFA), the Hyundai A-League Clubs and the Australian Defence Force (ADF), will be observed at all matches during Round 6 of the Hyundai A-League and Round 3 of the Westfield W-League (10-12th November 2017) with a full ADF military order of service and ticket offers for serving ADF members.

The ‘Remembrance Round’ initiative will aim to help promote the observance of Remembrance Day nationally, provide benefits to ADF personnel, and utilise the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League as a vehicle to effect meaningful social change by shining a spotlight on the significance of Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Round is a significant opportunity to be able to commemorate Remembrance Day with the ADF, RSL (Returned & Services League of Australia), and the Football Community in Australia.

“FFA, together with Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League clubs, is proud to have partnered with the ADF to recognise the brave men and women that have served their country,” said FFA CEO David Gallop.

“Our ‘Remembrance Round’ initiative commenced in 2016, and this year has grown to include an increased number of pre-game ceremonies and club specific initiatives to honour our service men and women.

“Alongside FFA, the clubs have proactively and meaningfully engaged with the ADF and RSL in their local communities, and it will be fantastic to see this planning come to life in recognition of our armed forces this weekend,” concluded Gallop.

Next year is the 100th anniversary of the Armistice.
