Wanderers defender Josh Risdon has landed in Turkey and has completed his very first training session with the Caltex Socceroos in their pre-FIFA World Cup camp.

Risdon, Maty Ryan and Matthew Jurman all trained in their first session today with only Milos Degenek, Tom Rogic, Mile Jedinak (one game remaining for Aston Villa) and Danny Vukovic (one game remaining for KRC Genk) yet to arrive in camp.

As with Day 1 and Day 2, the day was broken up with a gym session (with some players doing recovery) in the morning and then a session on the field in the afternoon.

Goalkeeper coach Tony Franken got to work with his men after all players had finished their pre-habilitation and injury prevention warm up with team physio Les Gelis, with van Marwijk’s assistant coaches Roel Coumans and Mark van Bommel then putting the players through some interval running.

Technical ball work was again on the training menu to get the players into the rhythm of training before intense small-sided games were incorporated.

Gradually increasing in size, the small sided games ended with a larger scale game with all 20 outfield players involved.
