In their first-ever Y-League Grand Final, Roar were simply too clinical for the Wanderers, setting up the win in the first half through goals from man-of-the-match Shannon Brady and Daniel Leck.
Mirza Muratovic added a third for Roar on 61 minutes and while the Wanderers responded through defender Tass Mourdoukoutas late on, it was to be Brisbane’s day.
Brady was one of Roar’s best and had a hand in all three goals, while keeper Macklin Freke also had an afternoon to remember, making a string of excellent saves at the other end.
It was the Wanderers who arguably started the stronger and dominated the first 20 minutes, only to go behind against the run of play midway through the first half.
After some pinball in the Wanderers box, the ball fell to Brady on the right, with his powerful low drive going through the legs of a defender and into the far corner of the net.
Roar keeper Freke was at his best to keep out a fierce drive from Andrea Agamemnonos soon after as the hosts looked to hit back swiftly.
But seven minutes before the break Roar doubled their lead through Leck.
Brady combined brilliantly with Emlyn Wellsmore on the right, with the latter cutting the ball back for Leck whose first-time finish was too good for the Wanderers keeper.
Both Muratovic and Leck had chances to extend Roar’s lead before half-time, while Mohamed Adam was inches away from pulling a goal back for the Wanderers in stoppage-time.
Desperate to get back into the contest, the Wanderers upped the intensity early in the second half.
But each time they created an opportunity, the impressive Freke was there to deny them.
Drew Sherman’s side then snuffed out any chance of a comeback with a third goal just after the hour mark.
Brady was again involved, weaving past his marker before a superb reverse pass got Muratovic in behind, with the young attacker producing a composed finish to make it 3-0.
The Wanderers gave themselves a lifeline with 11 minutes left when Mourdoukoutas produced a smart finish from a corner but there would be no comeback from last season’s champions.
