Western Sydney Wanderers’ hat-trick hero Brendon Santalab says his incredible vein of goalscoring form is the culmination of a career of hard work.

The 34-year-old boosted his tally to eight goals in six games with a superb treble in Wanderers’ valuable 3-1 win over Melbourne City at Spotless Stadium on Friday night.

“I’m over the moon. I’ve got no words because the service I’m getting is exceptional,” Santalab told Fox Sports.

“We all work hard and I’ve worked hard over the years for this.

“It’s all about putting all the experience together now and it’s coming together nicely.”

Santalab’s virtuoso performance sees Wanderers move eight points clear of Wellington Phoenix as they continue to shore up a top six spot.

“It’s all about focus for the next three weeks and making sure we’re in the finals,” the veteran striker said.

“We’ve had an up-and-down year, especially in front of goal, but it’s clicking at the right time.”

After professing his love for the club where he has now spent almost four seasons, Santalab was hailed as a model professional by coach Tony Popovic.

“He keeps delivering, keeps performing, and off the field he is a great role model for every footballer at our club,” the Wanderers boss said.
