Wanderers new signing Pirmin Schwegler has revealed that it has been a lifelong dream of his to one day return to Australia.

Speaking to his former club Hannover 96, Schwegler spoke about what drove him to make the decision to move to the other side of the globe with the Red & Black.

“For me, an opportunity had arisen to fulfil a lifelong dream,” said Schwegler.

“I got the opportunity to live for a while in Australia and it was an opportunity that I did not know would come again.

“The decision to move was anything but easy because Hannover 96 has been part of me for a long time.”

“I’ll follow them from a distance and cheer them on.”

The midfielder will link up with his teammates in June and is already counting down the days until he touches down in Western Sydney.

“I am very excited to join the Western Sydney Wanderers and I am counting down the days until I arrive,” said Schwegler.

“I am very proud to be part of the Red & Black and look forward to getting started.”
