Westfield Sports High and King Park Public School have taken home the spoils in what was a highly competitive day of the Wanderers Schools Cup on Tuesday at Knight Park in Yennora.

Twenty-three teams competed in the Southern Districts edition of this year’s Cup, with Westfield taking out both the High School Boys and Girls competitions, while King Park came out on top in the Primary School Mixed competition.

In the High School Boys competition, Westfield edged Bossley Park 2-1 in the final, with the two schools again facing off in the High School Girls final, where Westfield triumphed after a tense penalty shoot-out.

Those three teams will now move on to compete in the Wanderers Schools Cup finals later this year, joining qualified teams from the Bankstown, Blacktown, Granville, Gladesville-Hornsby, Macarthur and Nepean associations.

The Wanderers Schools Cup is now in its fifth year, with nearly 2,000 Western Sydney students from 83 different schools having participated in last year’s edition.
