Squad named for Arsenal match

Tony Popovic has named his side for tomorrow night’s blockbuster against English giants Arsenal FC at ANZ Stadium.

21 players have been named to the squad that’ll face the FA Cup winners.

The team will be led out by Robbie Cornthwaite, who today was officially named captain of the side ahead of the new season.

Marquee striker Oriol Riera is among those included in the squad while a number of players from the Wanderers youth side will get the chance to feature against the English Premier League giants.

Fans will also get the opportunity to see some of the club’s off-season signings don the Red & Black for the first time, including Roly Bonevacia, Chris Herd and Josh Risdon.

The Wanderers are without Jonathan Aspro, Keanu Baccus, Jaushua Sotirio and Lachlan Scott who are all away on national duty with the Under 23s team.

Arsenal are coming off a 2-0 win against Sydney FC on Thursday night, with Per Mertesacker and new star signing Alexandre Lacazette grabbing the goals.
