Born in Canberra, Steven Lustica spent his formative years in the nation’s capital on the books of Canberra FC and the ACTAS academy before becoming part of the Sydney FC youth squad in 2008.

He went on to enjoy a double-winning NYL season with the Sky Blues before moving to Gold Coast United, winning back to back NYL championships with the now defunct club in 2009/10 and 2010/11, a season that saw Lustica pick up the NYL Player of the Season award.

Having broken into the first team, the midfielder made his Hyundai A-League debut in a 3-0 loss to Central Coast Mariners in 2009 but would only appear on three other occasions for Gold Coast before attracting the interest of Croatian heavyweights Hajduk Split in 2011.

Lustica was loaned to Croatian second division outfit Dugopolje for the second half of the 2011/12 season where he scored one goal in 10 appearances for the club and helped the side achieve promotion into the Prva HNL.

Brisbane Roar were next to acquire the services of Lustica when he re-joined Mike Mulvey, his coach at Gold Coast, on loan where he enjoyed a pivotal role in helping the Queenslanders to a finals finish.

Roar were ultimately knocked out by the Wanderers in the semi-final and Lustica returned to parent club Hajduk before joining the ranks of Adelaide United for the 2013/14 season.

He returned to Brisbane Roar in February 2014 after being released from his contract at Adelaide United and secured a championship and premiership double in a successful 2013/14 season.

Lustica signed for Western Sydney Wanderers on 23 May 2016 on a two-year deal and made his debut against Wellington Phoenix in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.

Lustica scored his first goal for the Red & Black in Round 27 against Perth Glory.
