Sydney Derby Grand Final this weekend

The Western Sydney Wanderers are into the Grand Final in all three grades after an incredible day saw the Red & Black win all their semi-finals.

With Sydney FC also qualifying, it will be a Sydney Derby in every grade to decide the U18, U20 and NPL2 Championships on Saturday at Leichhardt Oval.

Due to national team call-ups, the Red & Black went into the match with only three starting players remaining from the last time these two teams met only three weeks prior. Despite this, the Wanderers defeated Mounties 2-1 with goals from Jordan Morfitis and Kosta Grozos.

Mounties came out of the blocks fastest, forcing two defensive blocks in the box within the first two minutes but the Wanderers soon wrestled control of the match as Moudi Najjar just shot wide.

The Red & Black had the lead soon after as Morfitis turned nicely and chipped the keeper to take a 1-0 lead.

Grozos, who was making his NPL debut, came close shortly after as he picked up the ball in his own half, dribbled past a number of opponents before his shot beat the keeper but was blocked on the line by a retreating defender.

He made it count with his next opportunity though as Matthew Lecce evaded a number of defenders and played a beautiful ball to Grozos who put the ball into the top corner with his left foot.

Najjar almost made it 3-0 early in the second half but was denied by some desperate Mounties defending before the away side got one goal back.

With the score at 2-1 and the Wanderers under pressure in injury time, Mounties looked to have scored with an excellent chance but were denied by a wonderful save by Daniel Axford, who was making his NPL debut.

From there the Red & Black held on and claimed a famous win in all three grades.
