Talented duo sign with Wanderers

NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers have signed rising stars Jaushua Sotirio and Martin Lo to their first senior playing contracts in another sign of the Club’s commitment to developing quality local players.

Sotirio, already a familiar face to Red & Black fans, made his Hyundai A-League debut last season before featuring the in the AFC Champions League Semi-Final against FC Seoul.

The flashy forward also scored his first goal for the Club in his starting debut in Round 6 of this season against Perth Glory.

Martin Lo has been training with the first team since last season and has been with the squad for both pre-season trials and tours as well as playing a key role in the Wanderers’ youth team.

Both players are products of the Wanderers’ National Youth League program which has also seen current first-teamers Kwabena Appiah, Alusine Fofanah, Daniel Alessi and Yianni Perkatis make the step-up to A-League level.

Young Socceroo Sotirio said he was proud to be given the opportunity at the Wanderers.

“To sign a professional football contract has been my dream as a child and to sign one with my hometown club is very special indeed,” explained Sotirio.

“It’s been a pretty good month really; playing in the Champions League Semi-Final, scoring my first A-League goal and now signing a senior contract.

“I’m very grateful to Popa giving me a chance last season and I‘ll continue working hard for him on the pitch and in training to be the best I can be.”

The Western Sydney Wanderers take on Brisbane Roar in the Grand Final replay tonight, Wednesday 3 December, at Pirtek Stadium. Kick-off is at 7:30pm with live coverage on Fox Sports 505.
