The Western Sydney local played his first football for Wetherill Park Westerners from U3s until U10s when he joined Southern Districts.
From there, Tariq played for Bankstown City Lions before moving to Sydney United and Marconi Stallions in the NSW NPL.

Joining the Western Sydney Wanderers as an NYL train-on, the midfielder made his Foxtel NYL debut against Sydney FC in Round 1 of the 2014/15 season before scoring his first goal against Melbourne Victory in Round 4.

After a good first season with the club, the Young Socceroos representative signed a Foxtel NYL contract for the 2015/16 season.
