The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers today welcomed new signing Vedran Janjetovic to the Club on an 18-month contract.
The Western Sydney native made the switch following five seasons at Sydney FC and is the first player during the Club’s playing history to make the switch to the Red & Black.
A fierce competitor and excellent shot-stopper, Janjetovic joined the team for training today for the first time before his transfer officially goes through on 4 January.
Speaking today for the first time as a Wanderer, Janjetovic said he felt at home joining the side.
“I’ve heard a lot about the Club and what a good place it is to be and I’m happy to be home,” said Janjetovic.
“I haven’t trained in a little while so I’ve got to get up to speed. There are a lot of challenges ahead but I’m looking forward to every single one of them.
“I live just around the corner from our training base so it feels like home. I’ve been welcomed by everyone. It’s been a good start.”
On reuniting with Wanderers goalkeeper coach Zeljko Kalac the player was effusive in his praise.
“He’s the best goalkeeper coach in Australia. We’ve worked together before, I know what to expect from him, he knows what to expect from me so we get along really well,” continued Janjetovic.
“I’m just looking forward to getting back into training and into a good routine with the best people around.”
Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas said the Club looked forward to welcoming Janjetovic into the family.
“Vedran is a Western Sydney boy whose attributes and personality will fit our environment well,” said Tsatsimas.
“Bringing players to the Western Sydney Wanderers who learned their football in western Sydney is always a positive and we look forward to seeing our fans welcome Vedran with open arms."
