The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers travel away to Wellington Phoenix this Sunday in their second consecutive away game.

The team suffered their first defeat of the season last week and the squad will be looking to put that result behind them and get back to winning ways.

“We-ve had a good weeks training so far, we-ve prepared well, got over the defeat, moved on and we-re looking forward to the game against Wellington,” said Wanderers Head Coach Tony Popovic.

“We know it-ll be a tough match but one we-re ready for.

“Wellington are a good side, they-ve been unfortunate with their results but they-re dangerous going forward and we-ve got to be aware of that.

“If we go there and play to our potential we certainly give ourselves a chance of taking home the points.”

Tony Popovic will be missing a number of players for the trip across the ditch including his marquee man Shinji Ono.

“Ono won-t play this week, he-s progressing well and we-re hopefully if he ticks all the boxes that he-ll be available from next week.

“You always want a player like Shinji available but we-re just pleased it-s nothing serious and these things happen.

“We certainly believe we have enough depth in the squad so this gives someone else an opportunity and we look forward to seeing them play.”
