Western Sydney’s best Asian community football talent was on show in the qualifying rounds of the Western Sydney Wanderers Asian Community Cup held last Saturday at Marconi Stadium.

Teams representing 17 Asian cultures played the preliminary rounds with eight making it through to the Quarter Final stage to be held this Saturday.

Iraq, Japan, Hong Kong, Lebanon, South Korea, Australia, Bahrain and Philippines will play from 11am at Marconi Stadium to decide the Semi-Finalists. Entry is free for spectators.

The event is organised by us with support from the Local Organising Committee of the AFC Asian Cup 2015, Club Marconi and Red Elephant Projects.

Our CEO John Tsatsimas believes the tournament is an important cog in engaging with our community.

“At the Wanderers we represent the whole of Western Sydney and it makes us proud to host an event that unites representatives of all cultures found in Western Sydney,” he said.

“We live and work in a diverse region and would like to express my gratitude to all involved in making this tournament happen. We all highly anticipate the Quarter Finals.”
