Vitor Saba touches down in Western Sydney for his first taste of life as a Wanderer.
NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers welcomed their newest playmaker Vitor Saba today as the Brazilian touched down in Western Sydney for his first taste of life as a Wanderer.
Flying in from Brazil this morning via Italy and Dubai, Saba headed straight to Wanderers HQ in Blacktown to meet the team and get settled into his new home in Western Sydney.
Known for his fantastic ball control and an intuition for setting up play the 23-year-old believes he will be able to bring more than just his silky moves to the football pitch.
“I think one of the main things I bring is joy to the pitch but I also bring skills especially in set pieces and I think I bring my quality and technique to the team,” said Saba.
After a few seasons of playing in Italy-s Serie B with Brescia Calcio a move to the Hyundai A-League was a big decision but the Brazilian admits with Tony Popovic at the helm it didn-t take much convincing to get him down under.
“What made me sign as a Wanderer was Tony Popovic. He called me and he said very good things about Western Sydney and although there were a lot of other great things that made me want to sign the most important was probably the coach.”
Although Popa was crucial in bagging the clinical left footer he says he has already taken a liking to our fans adding throughout the past few months he watched every match, finding himself well acquainted with the atmosphere and expectations of Wanderland.
“The last five months I was following Western Sydney, I was watching every match so I could know the team and know the fans. I know the amazing atmosphere the fans can make and I want to work for them.”
Our newest recruit could have his first chance to shine in Red & Black when the Wanderers take on Adelaide City in their inaugural FFA Cup clash in South Australia on the 12 August.
