Wanderers edge Berries in friendly

The NRMA Insurance Wanderers have continued their positive start to pre-season with a 2-0 win over Bankstown Berries in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Leichardt Oval on Wednesday night.

Second half goals to Keanu Baccus and Mark Bridge sealed the win for the Wanderers against fellow Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 hopefuls Bankstown.

Tony Popovic opted for a strong starting 11 that included marquee men Oriol Riera and Álvaro Cejudo.

Though the Wanderers would have to wait until late in the game to break the deadlock, as Keanu Baccus fired home a loose ball from just inside the area after 78 minutes.

Eight minutes later, Bridge added the second and final goal of the match when he finished off a well-worked length-of-the-field move, latching on to a nice through ball from youth player Tate Russell.

The Wanderers will now look forward to Tuesday’s Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 clash against Bentleigh Greens in Victoria.

The match will be broadcast live and exclusive on FOX SPORTS with kick-off at 7:30pm.

Those attending the match are able to purchase tickets directly from Bentleigh Greens.
