The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers will be honouring the Legends of Football at Sunday’s match against Adelaide United at ANZ Stadium.

The Wanderers will host over 80 former players, coaches and journalists on Sunday afternoon to honour and recognise their contribution to Australian football.

Gary Phillips, Carlos Gonzalez, Allen Maher, Paul Wade, Ufuk Talay and Peter Raskopoulos will be some of the Legends of Football in attendance at the pre-match function.

The Legends will also be honoured on the field before kick-off on Sunday for a special photo opportunity with a group of 100 junior Wanderers members, respecting the past along with the present.

Ticket prices have also been reduced for the match to $10 for Adults and $5 for concessions while Juniors can come in for free at the gates.

Western Sydney Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas says it is important for the Wanderers to continue to build on the club’s foundations that are derived from the rich history of football in Western Sydney and Australia as a whole.

“It is always important for us to look back at our fascinating football history as it has contributed so much in shaping the values of the Wanderers and the region we live in,” said Tsatsimas.

“We need to respect the history of our sport a lot better than we do. I firmly believe that one does not know where they are going, unless they understand or acknowledge where they have been”.

“We look forward to hosting some of the true legends of Australian football on Sunday and hope to make this a yearly tradition.”
