The Western Sydney Wanderers today launched their season campaign to mark the lead up to their first home game in Sydney for the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 season.

Teaming up with creative production house, Chisel, the ‘We are the West’ campaign features real fans and real stories from the club’s Western Sydney community.

‘We are the West’ is a call to arms and a reminder that the Wanderers are more than just a football club, it is the empowerment of the community of Western Sydney.

It’s not about where you’re from, or where you’re going, but who you’re wandering with.

We aren’t from the West.

We are the West.

With a 60″ digital short and 30″ TVC, to air across Foxtel channels from this Sunday, the campaign also features six “We are West” stories featuring members of the Wanderers family who contributed their time, energy and passion for the shoot including some of the club’s hardest working and most loyal members, volunteers and players.

With the Red & Black’s Westfield W-League Wander Women a core part of the club, the campaign and commercial features American midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta as well as new local signings Leena Khamis and Georgia Yeoman-Dale.

The Wanderers Powerchair Team also takes centre stage including a focus on foundation Powerchair player Andy Waite and his passion and connection to the club.

Club captain Brendan Hamill shares his pride in representing and captaining the region he grew up in as one of the six ‘We are the West’ stories and features alongside other Wanderers stars including Blacktown boy Nick Fitzgerald and marquee striker Oriol Riera.

Wanderers 2018 Centuria Wandercrew Volunteer of the Year Angok Bol talks about his journey from Sudan to Western Sydney and how and why he became involved with the club.

The vignettes, to be released over the course of the next two weeks also feature Victor Galvez, one of the foundation drummers of the Red & Black Bloc, as well as another highlighting club volunteer and passionate Wanderers W-League Mentoring Program mentor Gabrielle Dracopoulos.

The series was created to focus on the pride and community the Wanderers have created as they embark on their final season of home matches away from their spiritual home in Parramatta where they will return to their newly built stadium in just under 12 months’ time.

“The Wanderers family is about all those attached to the club – the fans, the members, the volunteers, our players and staff,” said Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas.

We are the West echoes the sentiment that is in our community – while we come from all walks of life, all backgrounds and cultures, together we represent a growing, diverse and incredible part of Australia – Western Sydney.

“The club has never shied away from our responsibility to our people, our community and the football culture that exists in Western Sydney. The next 12 months is a hugely exciting time for this club and this region and we want our members, fans and new supporters to feel this excitement just as keenly as we do.”
