Born in Viedma, Nicolás began his youth football with Argentinian giants Atletico Velez Sarsfield where he featured for the Velez U20 and B teams before going out on loan to third division outfit Almirante Brown in 2008.

Nicolás signed for fellow Argentinian outfit Independiente in 2009 and made his first team debut in 2010 before signing for Chilean side Santiago Wanderers in 2011.

The attacking midfielder played a key role for Wanderers, earning a move to Spanish second division club Real Murcia in 2012 though Nicolás eventually returned to Argentina following the conclusion of the 2012/13 season with Club Atlético San Martín.

He would move abroad again in 2014 when Greek outfit Panetolikos F.C came calling before attracting the eye of Greek champions Olympiacos for whom he signed a long term deal for in mid-2015. A month after putting pen to paper for the Greek heavyweights Nicolás was loaned out to Cypriot first division outfit Anorthosis Famagusta.

The Argentine became the third South American player to done the Red & Black when he signed for Western Sydney Wanderers in September 2016 on a one-year loan deal, making his Red & Black debut against Sydney FC in Round 1 of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season and scoring his first goal in Round 5 against Perth Glory.
