Wanderers Powerchair season gets underway

The Western Sydney Wanderers Powerchair Team will begin their title defence when they open their 2017 NSW Powerchair season against Newcastle Jets at Kevin Betts Stadium on Saturday.

The Wanderers took out their maiden Championship last September when they sealed top spot with a 2-0 win against the Jets on the last day of the season and they’ll be hoping to repeat the feat once again.

The Red & Black warmed up for the season with a solid showing in the iPRO APFA Club Championships in January, a tournament that the Jets took out.

It sets up what is sure to be a blockbuster season opener on Saturday between two sides with genuine title aspirations.

The Wanderers will be keen to shut down Jets skipper and Poweroo Dimitri Liolio-Davis who scored the opener in the last meeting between the two sides—a 3-1 win for the Jets at the Club Championships.

The Wanderers have retained their title-winning stars of last year and will look to recently crowned Player of the Year and Poweroo Abdullah Karim to lead the charge, as well as inspirational captain Jacob Cross, who will again don the armband for the season.
