Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the re-signing of goalkeeper Courtney Newbon for the Westfield W-League 2020/21 season.

The shotstopper made her debut for the Red & Black in the club’s 3-1 victory over Perth Glory and went on to make five appearances for the club.

Newbon moved from Tasmania to Sydney at a young age and is a product of Sutherland Shire.

Head coach Dean Heffernan said he was happy to have Courtney part of the team again.

“Courtney is a fantastic young keeper and we’re excited to have her back in the team for the coming Westfield W-League season,” said Heffernan.

Newbon said the next season is all about making more memories with the Red & Black.

“From breaking countless club records to making my debut, being part of my first professional setup with the Wanderers last season was very memorable for me and something I’ll never forget,” said Newbon.

“The new facilities at the Wanderers Centre of Football have given us a base and having all the teams work out of the one facility has really helped to build both a team and club-wide culture.

“Having broken so many club records last season, we ultimately want to take it one step further and continue to break more records.

“Hopefully we’ll be lifting a trophy at the end of it.”
