We are proud to announce the re-signing of Western Sydney local Brendan Hamill on a two year contract that will keep him in Red & Black until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Born and raised in Western Sydney, the 22-year-old joined us in June 2014 and played a key role in our AFC Champions League triumph which included 180 minutes in the two-legged final.

Hamill represented Western Sydney 23 times in the Hyundai A-League, FIFA Club World Cup and AFC Champions League, forging a reputation as a classy defender before a thigh injury ruled him out of the most consistent season of his career.

CEO John Tsatsimas said that Hamill’s re-signing ticked all the boxes.

“Brendan is the type of player that we want love seeing at our Club,” explained Tsatsimas.

“He’s talented, he’s a local boy, he has a terrific attitude and he is passionate about the community. Brendan fits into Western Sydney Wanderers in regards to both our club values and playing style.”

“We’re delighted that Brendan will be with us for a further two seasons.”

Hamill also expressed delight at extending his contract with his home town club.

“I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity the Club has given me and I can’t wait to work hard and bring back the success that the Club had in its first two and a half years,” said Hamill.

“I love being here. My mum, dad, auntie and uncle have been Members since before I joined the club and it’s part of what makes the Wanderers so special.

“We’re a family club, we’re a community club and we’re a winning club. It makes a combination you can’t say no to.”

We continue our AFC Champions League defence this Tuesday as they take on Guangzhou Evergrande in China on Tuesday 5 May. Kick-off is 9pm NSW time. A win combined with a draw in the other Group H fixture will see us qualify for the Round of 16.
