Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce the signing of Irish International forward Julie-Ann Russell for the upcoming Westfield W-League season.
Born in Galway, Ireland, Russell joins the club after an extensive career both domestically and internationally having played at club’s including Galway Ladies league, Los Angeles Strikers, Peamount United and USC Waves.
Russell’s pursuits in her home country saw her voted both the FAI Senior Women’s International Player of the Year as well as the Women’s National League Senior Player of the Year.
The dynamic forward has also played in three FAI Women’s Cup Finals for three different clubs.
In 2017, Russell migrated to Australia and has played in the National Premier League Women’s for the last three seasons with Sydney University.
Head coach Dean Heffernan welcomed Russell to the club.
“We’re very delighted to have a player with the experience of Julie-Ann come to the club and we’re very excited what she can bring to the team” said Heffernan.
“Julie-Ann is a leader both on and off the pitch and we’re very lucky to have her in the Red & Black this season.”
