Parramatta City Council Lord Mayor, Cr John Chedid, has congratulated the Western Sydney Wanderers for the club-s remarkable inaugural A-league season.

Cr John Chedid, said despite the Grand Final loss against the Central Coast Mariners on Sunday, the Wanderers still well and truly exceeded all expectations in their first season.

“In our eyes, the Wanderers are champions and to have won the Premiers- Plate and made the Grand Final in just their first year in the competition, is worthy of special recognition,” Cr Chedid said.

“We-re very proud of how far the club has come in such a short period of time and I-m confident that the Wanderers will continue to be a success in the A-League,” Cr Chedid said.

“To celebrate and recognise the Wanderers- achievements, I encourage everyone to come along to our Wanderers Street Parade on Tuesday 23 April.

“The Street Parade will travel northward along Church St from Macquarie St at 12:30pm with marchers making their way up to Prince Alfred Park,” Cr Chedid said.

An array of entertainment is scheduled at Prince Alfred Park, including live music, amusement rides and a Wanderers highlights reel from the season. Players will also be on hand to meet and greet excited fans, as well as sign autographs.

“The team together with their fans have played a crucial role in bringing people from all over western Sydney together and our celebrations provide a great opportunity for our community to show their support one last time,” Cr Chedid said.

The club will have the Membership team out in force for those fans who want to register their interest for next season.

We’ll have our Merchandise vans set up around Parramatta with plenty of stock including jerseys.

Mutch & Moore will give supporters a free coffee when they present their membership card and put you in the running to win a framed limited edition team poster signed by the squad.

Major Sponsors NRMA Insurance will bring the Ball Amnesty and there will be a ‘Boot Shoot’ competition with your chance to win signed footballs.

It is going to be a fantastic occasion in celebration of all that has been achieved this inaugural season with the Wanderers and our Western Sydney community.
