Western Sydney now possess ‘the one thing they lacked last year’ says Georgievski

Daniel Georgievski joined Western Sydney Wanderers with a feeling everything was about to change.

And now, after his side continued their perfect start to the 2019/20 Hyundai A-League campaign with a 1-0 win over rivals Sydney FC, he’s already seeing his vision come to fruition.

“The reason I came here was because I knew something was going to happen with this club,” Georgievski said.

“I felt it at the Jets, I felt it at Victory, and I think results speak for itself.

“The one thing [the Wanderers] lacked last year, when we were playing against them we just knew we were going to score.

“I didn’t feel like we were going to concede.

“I just knew we weren’t going to concede.”

The Wanderers kept a clean sheet against a rampant Sydney FC who peppered Daniel Lopar in the Western Sydney goal, hitting the crossbar in the first half and the bottom of the right-hand post in the second in a hotly debated moment where the ball seemed to have crossed the line.

As Sydney players and staff burst into a passionate uproar when a goal was not awarded, Georgievski knew his side had ridden their luck.

“I thought it went in to tell you the truth,” Georgievski said.

“I looked at it and went, ‘we’re not in the Premier league’; it was one of those millimetre ones.”
