The Western Sydney Wanderers Westfield W-League team head to the west coast of Australia this Saturday for a crunch Round Three encounter against Perth Glory at Dorrien Gardens.

The Wanderers will be looking to build on an impressive performance from their last match against reigning Premiers Brisbane Roar.

Despite, the Wanderers going down 1-0 there was plenty to be excited by from the performance with the team looking dangerous in attack and solid in defence.

The Sam Kerr-led Glory will be looking to secure a much needed three points after two draws in their opening two games.

Perth come into the match off the back of a heart-racing 4-4 draw away to Canberra United, which saw them come back from a 4-1 deficit with only 10-players and eight minutes left to play.

Such comeback will be sure to see Bobby Despotovski’s ladies have a spring in their step come Saturday night.

The trip west will bring back fond memories for the Wander Women who pulled off a stunning win last season when they defeated Perth Glory 4-3 thanks to a last minute winner from Erica Halloway.

In what was one of the Westfield W-League’s games of the season, the Wanderers led 2-0 within the first four minutes following goals from Ellie Brush and Rachel Lowe.

The Glory fought back care of a double from Kerr and a goal from import Rachel Hill to lead 3-2.

With only two minutes remaining, a deflection off Wanderers substitute Olivia Price saw the scores levelled before Erica Halloway fired home to snatch a vital three points in the 90th minute.

This Saturday will see another battle between the Wanderers solid defence and Perth’s star-studded attacking line-up that is headlined by Kerr, Hill and Liana Cook.

The Wanderers defensive unit led by import Sydney Miramontez, Caitlin Cooper, Talitha Kramer and Courtney Nevin will need to especially keep an eye on American import Hill who netted nine goals in the Westfield W-League last season.

The Red & Black will be pushing for their first three points of the season in Perth and if past matches are anything to go by, it’s set to be another exciting Battle of the West.
