Western Sydney Wanderers new signing Patrick Ziegler says he’s looking forward to starting the next chapter of his career with the Red & Black.

Joining the Wanderers from 1. Kaiserslautern FC in Bundesliga 2, the 187cm tall defender will bolster the Red & Black’s defence this upcoming Hyundai A-League season.

Playing abroad for the first time in his career, Ziegler was convinced to make the move across the globe by head coach Markus Babbel.

“I’m very excited to be part of this great club and start a new chapter of my career in Australia,” said Ziegler.

“The main reason why I decided to join the club was (head coach) Markus Babbel. We had several nice phone conversations where he told me a lot about the club, my new teammates but also about the country, the culture and the lifestyle.

“I like the playing style he wants to play with the team.”

The central defender is also excited to learn more about Australian culture with his family over the next three years.

“Next to football, as a human, my family and I also want to grow and get to know this new culture that we have heard a lot about.”
