Born in Liverpool, Duke, a product of All Saints school, Liverpool, started his youth career with Parramatta Eagles before signing his first professional contract with Hyundai A-League club, Central Coast in 2011.
While at the Mariners he earned selection for the Socceroos in the East Asian Cup and played four games, scoring twice.
Mitchell eventually signed with Japanese J-League club Shimizu S-Pulse, where he became a fan favourite during his four years (89 games, three goals) at the club.
He was lured back to the A-League, signing with the Wanderers during the January (2019) transfer window. He made an immediate impact. Coming on as a substitute on 69 minutes, Duke scored just 21 seconds after entering the field against Newcastle Jets in Round 17 on 1 February 2019.
